Day #1 : What is AWS? Why AWS?
What is AWS ?
AWS stands for Amazon Web Services. To understand AWS Let’s first understand what is Cloud Computing. Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage and computing power, without direct active management by the user. AWS is the cloud provider which provide more storage flexibility and enhanced security measures. They also contain features you’d find at a local data center, like bolstered security, higher computing capacity, and database construction as well as content caching.

Why AWS ?
AWS provide 212 cloud services on a pay-as-you-go basis. This means that you pay only for the services you use. And it works on a relative scale. That means the less you use it, the less you pay. And the more you use it, the less you pay per unit. These 212 services include computing, storage, networking, database, analytics, application services, deployment, management, mobile, developer tools, and tools for the Internet of Things.
Some more benefits of AWS:
- Easy to use.
- Flexible.
- Cost Effective.
- Secure.
- Reliable.
- Scalable and high Performance.
- Automated Multi region backup
- Streamlined Disaster Recovery
AWS and other Cloud providers.

AWS is not only cloud provider available. Its main competitors -Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform are somewhat caught up when it comes to the most crucial compute services.
The top three (which includes Google Cloud), and most likely many of the other solutions that are close (like Oracle Cloud) will continue to innovate in the cloud arena right along with AWS
Some things to consider:
- AWS has 212 available services to date, which is considerable. Most of the services AWS provides are in some way based on Open Source software, as are many of those provided by the competition
- Microsoft shines with:
- Active Directory with Azure AD
- Windows Virtual Servers
- ASP.NET
- SQL Server
- Google Cloud Platform shines with:
- Best-in-class big data solutions based on internally-developed products like BigQuery and BigTable – which are not open source
- Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) – Google’s best-in-class managed Kubernetes service fantastic. It is as good as you would expect from the company that invented Borg and Kubernetes itself
